This Episode Made Me Go… 🤯
🚀 MINDSET - Wealth of Health - THREE Tangible Takeaways
This past Saturday Eric and I had the opportunity to co-host an event with Codie Sanchez at ONNIT Gym in Austin, TX. Codie Sanchez has built a portfolio of over $50MM per year in revenue in “boring businesses” and a media business over $20MM per year in revenue. Here were three takeaways:
Patience. Successful people have a sense of urgency paired with abundant patience. They are playing the long game. Stop and ask yourself: What game are you playing? Do you have the BUY IN on your game to the extent that you will display patience with a sense of urgency in your work ethic?
Bring the RIGHT people on to your team that are FULLY bought in. When it comes to hiring, do not let your recency bias influence your selection. Bring in the people so bought in on your mission and make it their mission. I, inevitably, think of this application to personal relationships in life. I want to surround myself with individuals who not only want to add value but have the ability to do so.
“Kill the Zombie”. This concept was applied to business in the sense of products or services that we are holding on to that we may not actually be doing ourselves any good to retain. If they are underperforming or we do not like them.. kill it. Yet again, I find myself tying this in to all areas of life. If I have a behavior that is no longer serving me, it is best to do the hard work to become aware and wake up to the reality that the zombie must be killed. I have got to continually strive to have my actions align with my intentions. I need to BELIEVE in my capacity to make those changes AND I need to take ACTION to prove myself right.
💪 MOVEMENT: CARRY MORE SH*T MORE OFTEN
The skill of carrying is important for overall long-term health because it builds strength, balance, coordination and independence. PRACTICALLY incorporate more carrying strength work in to your weeks by intentionally picking up heavier objects around the house or equipment such as dumbbells, kettlebells, or barbells and holding them for 30-60seconds at a time. Incrementally increase load and length of time you hold and carry the objects. BONUS POINTS if you alternate sides, causing your core to engage even more for stabilization.
🥗 NUTRITION: Swap Canola Oil OUT. FIVE alternatives and their unique benefits:
Olive Oil: Healthy alternative to canola oil, it contains monounsaturated fats that can reduce bad cholesterol levels in the body. It is also high in antioxidants, which can help protect your cells from damage.
Avocado Oil: High in healthy monounsaturated fats and vitamin E, which can help lower cholesterol levels and reduce inflammation in the body.
Coconut Oil: High in medium-chain triglycerides, which can help improve brain function and aid in weight loss. It is also rich in antioxidants and can be used in baking and cooking.
Grapeseed Oil: High in polyunsaturated fats, which can help reduce bad cholesterol levels in the body.
Sesame Oil: High in antioxidants and contains healthy fats that can help reduce inflammation in the body. It is also a good source of vitamin E and can be used in cooking and salad dressings.
Love everything about this!
Getting that canola oil out of the pantry now! Have olive oil and will get one other type for baking.
